QUIET ON THE SET!

November 2003

Halloween tends to be our busiest time of year, and 2003 was no exception! Alan, along with AEO artists Charles Mellick and Walter Price, just returned from a busy Halloween in Hong Kong. For the third year, AEO has been the head character/make-up designer for Ocean Park's Halloween Bash 2003, the largest theme park Halloween event in Southeast Asia. The AEO team was responsible for the design and application of make-ups for all the haunts, plus a multitude of roving outside artists. Alan, Walter, and Charles comprised the US AEO team, working with several local HK assistant artists for the event. While in Hong Kong, Alan, along with Charles, was once again a guest lecturer at the incredible HK Academy of Performing Arts, demonstrating theatrical 3-dimensional character make-ups for stage. Many thanks to the academy for having us again!!

Closer to home, AEO also provided props and services for Busch Gardens' Tampa "Hallowscream" event, as well as many haunts throughout the US. Many thanks to all our Halloween clients! We hope that everyone had a fun and frightening season!

In between the Halloween shows, we also designed all the gags for an incredible production of "And Then There Were None" at Mt. Dora Theatre Co. You can see pics of Halloween 2003, along with our other work at www.aeostudios.com.

This season, AEO was also featured in the recent issue of Face Painting International magazine with an article on special f/x makeup, as well as an instructional series on injury makeup. This is such a great magazine for the make-up world, we are very proud to be a part of it.

Currently, Alan and Charles can be found at Universal Studios Florida as prosthetic artists for the "Grinchmas" show, as well as WDW Magic Kingdom decorating for the holiday events.

Need the perfect Holiday gift for that budding artist in your life??? Alan Ostrander will be conducting another series of classes in theatrical stage/character make-up at AEO Studios during the weeks of January 19th through February 13th. This is an intensive, 8 session course in designing and applying all types of theatrical/character make-up. Perfect for actors or beginning make-up artists, class includes basic make-up kit, design sheets, supplies, etc. Cost is $600, and limited to 10 students. What a perfect Christmas gift!! July 2003

The last few months have been very busy ones here at AEO! We recently were featured at the Transworld Halloween, Costume, and Party show in Chicago. There we premiered our great new 2003 products, original haunted attraction designs, and gave seminars on special effects make-up.

The lecture circuit continued in May as Alan was a guest speaker/lecturer for the Florida Motion Picture and Television Association. The end of June found us at the Face Painting Int. Convention in Orlando where we introduced special-f/x make-up to face-painters. Charles Mellick taught prosthetic application classes for con with model, Nina Oh while Alan kept the booth hopping!

This summer will be a busy one again as we prepare for Halloween 2003! Once again we will be making custom props, prosthetics, and designs for several attractions, theme parks, and retailers! Make sure and contact us before the end of July for all your Halloween needs as the season is booking out fast!

January 2003 --

Well, 2002 was definitely a busy and exciting year here at AEO Studios! This year saw us again expanding our local retail showroom location at our studios in Orlando. We had the opportunity for some wonderful film work on "Website" and "Night Terror". (Look in the portfolio for some great pics with Al Lewis and others!)

The lecture circuit continued from Seminars at Full Sail Recording in Orlando and Halloween Expos throughout the U.S. to Guest lecturing at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. While in Hong Kong, Alan was the key make-up designer and artist for the Halloween Bash 2003 at Ocean Park Theme Park for the second year. Along with Walter Price (another of our great AEO artists) he was responsible for all the make-up designs and applications for this wonderful park! They even got to be onstage as well as they portrayed various characters throughout the park entertaining guests.

All in all, 2002 was a great year with many exciting new projects and people. We look forward to watching the AEO family grow through 2003!

September 2001 --

The 2001 Halloween Season at AEO Studios is off to a great running start. We have recently expanded our Orlando Studio to include a new retail & makeup application area. Open daily by appointment, local clients may now purchase makeup and supplies in a friendly environment from actual makeup artists. Whether to pick up a specific item, or talk with us regarding a custom makeup design, we are here to help.

September has also seen the birth of our new website. Created by the wonderful designers at visualbedlam.com, and egostorm.com, clients and customers may now browse through our diverse work and designs, or purchase products online through our safe & secure Supply Shop.

The season was kicked off by our first ever Open House-Art Party on September 1st. Attended by many members of Central Florida's Theatrical & Artistic community, the event was a great success. A wonderful time was had by all as guests got to network, exchange information with other local artists, and just have fun. Many thanks go out to all our friends and supporters who believe in the art we create.

Thank you very much for visiting us, and we hope that this becomes a regular stop. This section will be updated frequently with the exciting new projects & antics of our staff. Make sure and visit the "Locals Only" section for local art & theatre happenings in Central Florida.
